Iron Velvet was created because women in the trades deserve gear designed with them in mind- not gear made for men and simply size down.
I joined the HVAC industry later in life after leaving an office career of more than 20 years. It turned out be one of the best decisions I ever made.
Working in the field opened my eyes.
Not only are women still a small percentage of skilled tradespeople, but finding workwear that actually fits us is harder than it should be.
Our pants slide down when we clip on tools.
Safety vests hang like tents.
Pockets aren’t where we need them.
Most gear aren’t designed around the way women actually work.
And that’s exactly why Iron Velvet exists .
I’m the technician who carries a drill and wears lipstick.
I believe strength and femininity belong on the same job site.
